ABOUT

The Rock & Roll Kitchen®, Jr. is an educational, entertaining and innovative food, music and dance show geared towards audiences aged 5 – 12. Using upbeat music, simple (yet effective) cooking techniques and engaging dance segments, this fast-paced format is part cooking show, part music show, part dance show, part nutrition education and completely engaging for young viewers – and perhaps even older audiences (i.e., their parents).

The Rock & Roll Kitchen
® was originally created by The Rock & Roll Chef®. After years of interactive participation by kids in various demonstrations and performances of his "grown up" show, the addition of RRK Jr. co-founder Michele Mineur-Brieske brings a key component from the education and recreation sector. This important addition completes the balance between entertainment & education elements central to this groundbreaking program.

The Rock & Roll Chef® (Marty Larkin)

Michele Mineur-Brieske

THE ROCK & ROLL CHEF® (Marty Larkin) is a professional chef and musician who stretches the boundaries of culinary entertainment. Combining top-notch musicians and delectable recipes, the Chef's shows are unique, fast-moving and fun.

HE'S DONE NATIONAL TV AND RADIO spots for Kraft Foods with "Celebrate Cookin' With Kraft Cheese"; he has appeared on the nationally syndicated Crook & Chase Show; Superstation WGN-TV and The Bozo Show showcased him demonstrating professional pumpkin carving techniques on their programs. He also created the "Halloween Carving Kit" for X-Acto. His Totally Chipotle Bloody Mary Mix was voted #1 by the Chicago Tribune, beating several national brands. Combined with thousands of people enjoying live performances of the Chef and his classic rock party band, things are literally "on a roll."

ORIGINALLY CREATED FOR TELEVISION, THE ROCK & ROLL KITCHEN® now describes other elements of this robust show (click for info). Building on a talent-packed pilot episode shot in Los Angeles (featuring The Beach Boy's Brian Wilson, The Tower Of Power Horns, drummers Jim Keltner and Ginger Baker, among others), "The Rock & Roll Kitchen" is also used as name for the Chef's cookin’ band.

Michele Mineur-Brieske has been a Recreation and Leisure professional for over 25 years. Born and raised in Chicago, Michele chose the field of recreation to work with children and families, and loved the fact that kids could come to the park and “learn through play.” Michele has spent her entire career with the Chicago Park District, doing everything from teaching to supervising, to directing and developing programs city-wide. She was responsible for revolutionizing the district's summer youth programs, recognizing that summer programs needed to be more responsive to Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods. The after-school programs also flourished under her leadership.

Michele received her undergraduate degree in Education and Recreation from Southern Illinois University. She has served on various committees and councils in her field, and collaborated with many city and state agencies. In 2001, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley presented Michele with the prestigious "Outstanding Professional Employee” award.

An interesting note regarding Michele's involvement with The Rock & Roll Kitchen, Jr. is her culinary background - zero. But by looking at the program through the same young eyes as their audience, she has the advantage of a fresh perspective on cooking, and is excited to learn right along with the kids.
